Luis DominguezArtistic Director
Luis Dominguez began his ballet training in his hometown of Mexico City under Sonia Casteñeda and Francisco Martinez, both former principals of Ballet Nacional de México.
Mr. Dominguez received full scholarships to study in New York at Dance theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, where he studied under such figures as Arthur Mitchell, Alvin Ailey, Istvan Rabovsky, Nancy Schaffenburg, and Frederick Franklin among many others.
In 1988 Mr. Dominguez joined Dance Theatre of Harlem where he became the first male soloist of Latin origin.
During the eighteen years of touring and working with the company, Mr. Dominguez performed in the most prominent theaters in Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, as well as the United States.
He has worked with the some of the most prominent names in the dance world today such as Suzanne Farrell, Agnes de Mille, Alonzo King, Garth Fagan, Bronislava Nijinska, Gelsey Kirkland, Frederic Franklin, Jerome Robbins, Patricia Neary, Jacques d’Amboise, Billy Wilson, Louis Johnson, Geoffrey Holder, Glen Tetley, and Michael Smuin.
From 2000-2003 Mr. Dominguez co-directed the Dance Department of the Performing Arts School of Metropolitan Toledo.
Since becoming the Artistic Director of the Lexington Ballet in 2003, Mr. Dominguez has choreographed numerous original works and collaborated with many arts organizations. He has brought to Lexington principal dancers from some of the most prestigious companies around the world and has created signature programs that elevate the standard of dance in our community.

Nancy Dominguezbegan her training under former NYCB Soloist Michael Steele and Hamburg Opera Ballet Principal Dancer Tomislav Vukovich, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
At the age of 17, she was awarded a full scholarship to train with the Chicago City Ballet, under the direction of Prima Ballerina Maria Tallchief.
While training in Chicago, Mrs. Dominguez also had the privilege of working with Homer Bryant, Allegra Kent, Melissa Hayden and Marjorie Tallchief Skibine.
Ms. Dominguez attended and was awarded scholarships at Pennsylvania Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet and the New York State Summer School of the Arts.
Ms. Dominguez danced professionally with the State Ballet of Missouri, under Todd Bolendar and Una Kai, Atlanta Ballet, Ballet New England, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem under Arthur Mitchell.
Some of her repertoire includes George Balanchine's Serenade, Concerto Barocco, Western Symphony, Allegro Brillante, The Four Temperaments, Bugaku and Valse Fantasy; Clara, Dew Drop, Snow Queen, Spanish and Arabian in The Nutcracker; soloist roles in Paquita, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and many other original works by prominent choreographers such as Robert Garland's Ginastera and Joplin Dances.
Nancy performed in some of the most prestigious theaters around the world, such as the Acropolis, in Greece; Teatro Romano, in Spoletto, Italy; the Kennedy Center; the Detroit Opera House; City Center, and the State Theater in New York City.
Nancy participated in numerous community outreach programs through the "Dancing through Barriers" program with the Dance Theatre of Harlem in NYC public schools and on tour nationally around the world.
Ms. Dominguez has taught for The Toledo School for the Arts, Eastern Michigan University, and The Toledo Ballet.
Luis and Nancy Dominguez were awarded the Director positions at Lexington Ballet in 2003 and since have served in the community sharing their love and passion for dance.
Nancy teaches all levels of ballet classes; she also serves as the ballet mistress for the company.
