In-School and Community Outreach Programs

Bring Lexington Ballet Company to your school!

Choose a custom mix of programs to craft an interactive experience for students K-12. All programs are designed to fit within one school class block and support Kentucky Arts and Humanities requirements. Students will learn how dance is not only an art form but a pathway to all educational curriculums.

Mini-Performances

The Nutcracker - Lexington Ballet dancers will perform excerpts from the beloved classical ballet based on the the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman. A few students will be selected from the audience to learn the holiday party dance.

Dance Menagerie - An interactive theatrical experience that explores dance throughout the ages and its connections to history, science, and literacy. Lexington Ballet dancers and a narrator perform a 60 minute tour de force to engage, entertain, and educate.

Observe, Create, Perform (NEW this year!)

A small group of Lexington Ballet dancers will perform selections from current repertoire for students to Observe. Then students will be split into groups to work with the dancers to Create their own combinations. Students will Perform their new works for each other to for their own stage experience.

Creative Movement Class

A fun and energetic dance introduction lead by a few Lexington Ballet dancers. The focus is on capturing eveyone's natural gift of movement and bringing that together with music in the art of dance. Classes will include safe stretching, learning basic movements of dance, and dance terminology.
