Sofia was practically born dancing and began her training with her mother, Veronica Moretti Niebuhr in Savannah, GA. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina Sofia began training at Charlotte Ballet Academy and eventually joined their prestigious pre-professional program under the direction of Laszlo Berdo and Kati Hanlon Mayo. While there she had the opportunity to work with many amazing teachers and mentors including Patricia McBride. She was featured in a soloist role in Alejandro Cerrudo’s Lickity Split, set by Alejandro Cerrudo and Ana Lopez, Demi-Soloist and Corps de Ballet roles in Ib Anderson’s Swan Lake, originated the role of Lost Boy in Christopher Stuart’s Peter Pan, performed a soloist role in George Balanchine’s Divertimento 15. as well as other Corps de Ballet roles in Rubies, Walpurgisnacht, and Union Jack set by Patricia McBride. She has also attended summer programs at Chautauqua Institution, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Philadelphia Ballet and of course Charlotte Ballet.
